A friend and I are looking to go on a cruise in June (maybe 3-4 days) and I just wanted to know what cruiselines people recommended...do you have a favorite; is there a cruiseline you would advise to stay away from? We are both young adults and are just in need of a good time and a vacation!!Thanks!

  1. I have been on carnival and royal caribbean, and royal caribbean is by far better. Carnival is the cheapest and it shows in the lack of onboard activities and customer service. Unlike its motto carnival is far from the fun ship. If you do cruise with them make sure you choose an itinerary that has no days at sea. With them you have more fun off the ship than you do onboard. Royal Caribbean is a little more expensive but they offer a lot more onboard activities and amenities. Also the service is very good, and they have a lot of newer innovative ships.

  2. carnival is good and cheap for 1st time cruisers

  3. Carnival is definitely the best summer and affordable cruise to go on. They are all nice ships and you have so many choices to choose from. I was looking at cruise lines because we are going on a cruise in December and Carnival is the cheapest. From what people have told me you get your moneys worth. Royal Caribbean is a bit more expensive, but very fun as well. I personally like the ports on Carnival better. Also Norwegian Cruise Line is also right in the middle. Either way you will have a good time, but Carnival has the best to offer!!

  4. I always start my search at vacationstogo.com. I am not brand loyal as far as cruiselines go. I do a custom search for the itineraries that I like and click on 4 stars or better. All cruiselines have older ships that tend to have worse service so I go by number of stars. Keep in mind that the shorter 3-4 day cruises will be more party til you puke. And the longer ones will have more of a mix of singles families and retirees.

  5. Carnival is a good first-timer's cruise line.  Many people like Royal Caribbean, too - this would also be a good first-time cruise.

Summer isn't a "cheap" time to cruise, as it's prime vacation time for people with kids in school.

Check VacationsToGo.com, Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, or Kayak to see what prices are out there.  You can either book with any of them or go to a travel agent with the prices you've gotten and see what [s]he will do.  To save money and for greater convenience, book your airfare, if needed, on your own - cruiseline air is almost always more expensive and always less convenient.

    Good luck.
