  1. The tip is I believe 10% of the bill, but you should also weigh in how good or bad the service was.  If the server did a good job or bad job, with me, adds to or takes away from the tip.

    In Russia it would be $2.50-$5

    In Argentina it would be $4-$6.

    In the United States it would be between $7.50 and $10; 15% is the minimum for good service and 20% is for exceptional service.  Less than that hasn't been used by polite restaurant-goers in about 50 years.

    Customs vary . . .

    Anyone who thinks waiters don't remember very good - or very bad - tips hasn't eaten out very much.  I have - and they remember!!!

    To all of you who'd stiff the waiter for bad service: did it occur to you that you'd get a lot more accomplished if you spoke to management?  In addition to the problem actually being addressed (and a possible misunderstanding straightened out) management will usually discount your meal in some way - even waive the tab altogether.  Whatever the waiter might think, management DOES want you back, and they'll work hard to address your concerns.

  6. Depending on the service, I usually tip 15% or more. If the service is excellent, I may tip 20%-25%. On a $50 dollar meal, a 15% tip is $7.50, a 20% tip is $10.00 and a 25% tip is $12.50.

    If the service is not good, I have been known to leave less. For really bad service, I will leave one penny, so that the server knows that I did not "forget the tip" I purposely left him next to nothing!

    I assume it was one of the cheapskates that gave me the thumbs down?  Sorry but my answer is correct. I was a server for many years, we have to pay taxes on a percentage of our tips whether or not we made that much, so it really sucks to work your butt of and get a 5$ tip on a 50$ tab, servers remember the bad tippers and if you are a repeat customer you wont get as good of service the next time we see you because it's not worth your measly 5$ tip. That is 10% not the going rate for tips sorry.

  11. I think it would be 15% for the tip so say it costs you $50.00 Dollars for your meal the total would be $57.50.

    I think if the Waiter/Waitress gives you a refill of a particular drink like Coca-Cola or Tea, Water without having to ask them for it and provide you with excellent service through out the meal you should give them 18%.

    So if it's $50.00 plus the 18% tip to the Waiter/Waitress that would be $59.00 Total.

  15. Presuming that you're having the meal in the United States, the tip percentage should be appropriate for the quality of service that you received without regard to the quality of the meal. Bad food should be reported to the management and returned to the kitchen. The server can only be held partially accountable if the food was obviously bad or smelled bad.

    The "standard" tipping range is now 15 to 20% of the cost of food and beverages before sales tax or any discounts/coupons. Lousy service should be reported to management. You should look around and evaluate why you're receiving lousy service though. If a server has too many tables to serve and is constantly running back and forth trying to take care of their tables, they should be cut some slack. If you see they standing around and ignoring their tables, well, they deserve what they get. Never leave no tip at all. They'll just think that you forgot. Leaving a penny is not inappropriate.

    All that having been said, I generally tip 15% for good service, 25% for great service and have tipped as much as 50% for exceptional service.

  19. Due to the price of items and incomes rising the average price of a tip is 18%. If I have OK service then I'll tip 10-15%. You should always look and see if the  server was getting bombarded by tables though, then I will tip 18%. But if the service was great then I will do 20%. Everybody should be a server once, it will make you realize how hard it can be.

  20. At the very least, even if the service was not up to par.. 5 dollars.  If the service was good.. at least 15 to 20 percent (7.50 to 10 dollars).  If the service was exceptional.  I would go even higher.  I have given a 100 percent tip when I feel I am being well taken care of.

  22. if you eat out and your service was good to excellent and you cant leave at least 18% then you should really think about staying in. or eat at mcdonalds!!! people in the service industry work very hard and deserve that tip.... if you feel that you dont need to tip , then you need to stay home!

  23. 10 to 15 % range.  You dont want to pay less and the waiter chases you outside the restuarant when you leave.

    But you dont want to pay more either because the waiter will not even remember you pay more after a few minutes. If they give good service, they will always give good service to all customers.  Not just you. Why waste more of your money ?
