  1. match

  2. Match. The lighter ruins the flavor of the cigar because of the chemicals needed to make the flame.

  3. Between the two, I would say the match, but wait until the sulfur & phosphorous on the end is gone.  I broke down and purchased a butane torch lighter and I am glad I did because it makes lighting the cigar much easier.  A lot of people use strips of Spanish cedar to light the cigar.  If you smoke cigars wrapped in cedar, then you can light that and then light the cigar.  If all else fails and you have nothing except a Zippo type lighter, then use it.  Unless you are a major connoisseur, you probably won't notice the difference.

  4. I use a bic and just make sure I keep the flame about an inch from the end while lighting it.

  5. I prefer long wooden matches.  Fireplace matches are overkill, but longer,  thicker wooden matches give the chemicals in the head time to burn off.

  6. I typically use a torch lighter to fire up my cigars.

  7. Best?  Its a matter of personal preference.

Butane lighter burns the cleanest, but many people use matches, cedar spills, torch lighters and even absorbed fuel lighters.....

  8. the smoldering corpse of your defeated nemesis.
