the worse thing that happened to my gerbils is long ago, I lost one of my gerbils in my house and i stepped on him by mistake. But now i have 1 gerbil named presley. Shes a lilac.

The worst experience I have ever had with my Gerbils is losing a whole litter of pups to a Respiratory Infection withing 24 hours.

My local pet shop had recommended using pine shavings as bedding for my breeding pair of Gerbils. The pups were born and everyone looked fit and healthy until they reached 3 weeks old. Almost immediately, they dropped one by one.

Unfortunately we did not spot the signs early enough to save a single one. Now I use Carefresh and Aspen bedding and have never lost a single pup.

So please if anyone out there is using pine or cedar shavings, stop now because PINE KILLS!!
