  1. I'm not TOO sure, but I've played a lot of war-based videgames [hehe] and I think it's like ou have to picture a clock on the floor around you. [Example: 12:00/24:00 would be directly in front of you, 3:00/15:00 would be your right]

This is usually just called "Distance and Direction."  Normally it is said something like "Hostile at 3 o'clock, 500 meters."  It indicates that there is enemy to the right side, 500 meters away from their direction of travel.  Think of the circular face of a clock.  Enemy to their 3 o'clock would be from the right, from the 6 o'clock would be from the rear, from the 9 o'clock would be from the left, and from the 12 o'clock would be directly to the front.

    The 12 o'clock position is always from the front of the group or in the case of when they are moving, is always in the direction of movement.
