I'm not sure exactly but if the music is portraying or helping to describe something, this can be known as programme music. Or it may just be background music.

I would say ambience or atmosphere but many other things can make a major contribution too, such as the cinematography, direction, acting, script, etc.

Theme music maybe, in that the music contributes to the overall feeling you get when you watch a particular scene.
