We were hoping to go to New York in December but unfortunately something has cropped up and we will have to put it back to probably January, can you please tell me is there still some festivities going on, eg: lights up/shop windows still looking great etc?

l know there will be the winter chill in the air and also good sales but anything else l need to know about or do you think if l want all the magical of Christmas l should just wait till next year?

  1. actually, i find january and post-xmas much more pleasant. there's still a lot of xmas related stuff going on into the first week of january, if not later. the extra crowds are gone, but the performing arts season and Broadway shows go on as strongly as usual...

  2. My friend, the weather in NYC, in the month of January, is cold. Bring a heavy coat, a pair of gloves, and warm hat and plenty of warm clothes.

    Good luck

  3. If you arrive at the very beginning of January, there will still be store windows and decorations up for you to see.  The tree in Rockefeller Center is also usually up for a week past New Year's Day.

However, by the middle/end of January, they do start to change over the windows, which have been up since November.

The nice thing about January is that there will be fewer people visiting, so lines will be shorter and it will be easier to see things.
