  1. I was going to give you a comprehensive answer to your question, but I see Mareecia has given you all the information you need to know anyway.

Take heed of what she says.

  2. well apart from living in the UK, i have not lived anywhere else.  Of course with anywhere there are pros and cons.

Weather...well its varied, but its considered mild (mild winters/warm summer.

Obviously the further north you go, the warmer in winter it is (but its more humid and can rain more).  I live in the top of the South Island, in Marlborough and with Nelson and Hawkes Bay areas are the sunniest in NZ (ie 2200hrs sunshine per year) and its much drier here too.  Winters can be fresh...I would say in general however it really doesn't get colder that about 4oC in a day in the main centres.  At nights it will get below 0oC on frosty nights in many place (not like Auckland etc)

Population wise, NZ is small eg 4milion, with over a million in the Auckland region alone.  THe South Island has under a million (with most people living in Christchurch (400,000) and Dunendin (100,000)). If you live in the major cities (Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin) there are  advatages in being near more amenities...escpecially in Auckland.  Public transport is less regular here so a car is important to get around in most places.

Scenery is fantastic and varied....this was emphasised to me even more when I left!!! There are so many things to see of the natual variety eg lots of moutains and lakes (especially in the South Island), there are stunning forests, lots of coastlines too.

Sport is very important in NZ .  While Rugby is king of all, there are lots of other sports you can get pretty good access to here eg skiing/snowboarding, surfing, golf, yachting, as well as a multitude of team sports (rugby league, cricket, netball, hockey, basketball etc) and other things like tramping (hiking), and adventure things available everywhere eg bungy jumping. skydiving, paragliding, white water rafting, jet boats etc.

We are a pretty laid back bunch and supposed to be very friendly (I found out we are much less reserved than a lot of the Brisitsh!!).   Lifestyles can be more fun here (but obviously you get into your work like other places too!!.....a lot of people take advantage of these things and do them in the weekends more and see the world more here (I feel we get a better view of the world here (as we take in things from everywhere).
