  1. It's fan - bloody - tastic mate.

A really really big country. extreme weather and natural forces but such a variety of climate and landsacpe and environment - from tropical rain forest to snowcap mountain and desert.

People are laid back and friendly and we come from all over the world.

A VERY unique flora and fauna.

Just treat us the way you want  to be treated and you will get along with anyone.

Been here over 35 years and never regretted it.

    G'day to you.

  2. Slightly Violated Francis, what a lovely answer! I don't how to improve on it =).

Great people. What I find most amazing is that I often find myself sitting on a table with each person from a different cultural background. I love it. It's like the whole world mixed into one.

  3. Australia is the best country in the world...

    Very unique country.

I've also been here all my life and wouldnt go anywhere else to live... Just for holidays I would go somewhere

  4. It's a big place...lots of different cities with different vibes. I live in Brisbane...it's just under 2 million people, growing very fast, sub-tropical climate, very laidback approach, becoming much more culturally diverse, hot and humid in summer (except this summer just gone, thank you La Niña), very dry and mild and lovely in winter.

Sydney and Melbourne are the two larger cities and they have a very strong rivalry going on between them. We are considered poor cousin by comparison, despite having the strongest economy in the country.

Australia is big. Just a bit smaller than the contiguous US, but with far fewer states & territories. For example...Queensland, where I am...is nearly three times the size of Texas.

Australians are a curious breed of confidence, humour, insecurity and friendliness. We still view ourselves as being very different to the rest of the world but at the same time wanting to be regarded by it. We're even insecure within our own big island. The Sydney/Melb rivalry, the Brisbane feeling left out of the Syd/Melb thing, Perth and the west being ignored completely...Adelaide considered a little odd and don't even start me on stereotypes about Tasmania.

It is a wonderful, cheerful, sparsely populated place that really needs some good skilled people to take up the slack right now.

  5. Like America but without the guns and violence.

  6. I have lived here all my life and LOVE it.

I have travelled overseas many times (and always will), but the best place is home and I will always live here.

I live in a southern state called Adelaide, and it is very affordable to live here. My hubby and I nearly own our home which is something not many friends can say, especially ones that live in the more expensive Eastern states.  Easy to get a good paying job (of course if you have qualifications to suit) and the weather is great.  We have just had a very hot Summer, but we still get a wet Winter.  Not as much rain as we would probably like, but there is not much we can do about that.

I have holidayed in every state except Tasmania and the NT, but will be going there next year. I love Queensland for holidays in the sun.  Perth to go somewhere to relax, Melbourne for the shopping and eating and not much else. Sydney is for the overseas tourists, I don't need to go there and spend twice as much money to do simple things. All those states have a rivalry/competition going on about who is the best state, kinda wierd.  You can't compare them really - no one here gives a s**t.  I do not know anyone who lives here that wants to live elsewhere.

Our health system is great (compared to other countries) and it is easy to get around our capital city.

The beaches here are just beautiful and there is so many fantastic restaurants and wineries.

It's an easy to live place, my life is great here, I cannot complain.

  7. I'd love to give you a long answer but I have to go.

I have an appointment in an hour. Sorry.

It's just after midday, on Wednesday, where I am.

    So here's the short answer.

We are the luckiest people alive to be Australians and to live in this wonderful country.

The more I see of the rest of the world the more I realise how fortunate we are to call this land home.

Sadly, some of us don't realise that.

I hope you get the chance to visit us and that you have a great time while you're here.
