  1. Living in Ireland is good.  Dublin city is busy but the suburbs are ok, elsewhere can be lower key.  You just have to get used to the weather which is not always great (like at the moment).  We have quite high taxes too,  For example on new cars, petrol and wine.  I have lived all my life here (quite a few years now!) and have travelled extensively all over the world and you cannot beat Ireland for friendliness and a bit of 'craic'.

  2. i was born, raised and live in cork and love it. the weather can be shite though. @silvana, you're fairly wrong girl, the houses are quiet nice, same as anywhere really, the food depends on what you eat!, infrastructure suits me grand, hospitals are modern, we even have penicillin!, culture too conservative and conformist???? it was 30 years ago but is quiet liberal now. i could go on and on

  3. I'm Irish but I preferred living in France to be honest........

    It is very expensive..........

  4. so great i live in uk

  5. Its very quiet in the country, Im from the North and every town is now a carbon copy of one another.

If you have to travel for longer than 20 mins to get to anything then its too far away and there is bound to be one closer!

  6. Ireland as a whole is great. Fantastic scenery. great places to walk. Great places to eat - but can be a bit pricey at times. The likes of Kerry, Donegal, Lietram, Galway, Clare, Down, Armagh etc have great places to visit too, cathedrals, historic sites etc.

  7. depends where you live in ireland....say like dublin is very very busy but if you live in the country it would be a more relaxed way of life

  8. cold and wet 350 days of the yr but great al the same, its a nice friendly country :-)

  9. It depends on where you live. I live in Cork city and it's great. There's all the shops you need without it being as busy and as expensive as Dublin, and it's only a short drive out to the countryside.

  10. I'm living in (the west of) Ireland and though I have met some lovely Irish people I really wish I could leave because:

    - it's too wet - you'd be surprised how much it gets to you after a while, especially if you haven't grown up with it.

    - the houses are ugly

    - the food is gruesome and over-priced

    - there's hardly any infrastructure - try getting anywhere on public transport

    - hospitals are primitive

    - things are generally disorganised

    - the culture is too conservative and conformist for me

    - any social gathering must always end up in drunkeness; people can't seem to come up with things to do that do not involve alcohol.

    - it's not actually easy to make close Irish friends - many foreigners end up going around in little foreign groups because of this.

Okay, that's me and maybe I'm just bitter so I'll give you the good side:

    - there is some beautiful scenery (though not as much as you are sometimes led to believe)

    - people always say it is expensive and though this may be true wage levels are high as well. I consider myself reasonably well off and my job is by no means spectacular.

    - people are pleasant and chatty in pubs, on the streets etc. (though this does NOT equate to making close friends easily)

    - the music scene is great.

    - the pubs really are the best in world, and you'll never here me say otherwise.

  11. fab .fab .fab. i love it my favourite place.

  12. As long as you don't mind the rain then it's a great place to live!

Don't go to Dublin. It's far too expensive these days. Come to Cork instead. It's got more of a "big town" atmosphere than that of a city. It's also quite close to the major tourist attractions such as Killarney and the people of Cork are quite friendly, like.

  13. wet, cold, dreary & depressing because it's always raining but it's home!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Great!!!! I love it, great country, great people

Bit cold at the moment though
