  1. its usually flexible hours especially if it is a 24 hr call in centre

noprobably u cant have lunch at ur desk but that is a good u ll have a chance to move around a bit and stretch urself u know :)

they might randomly record u than meet p with u to discuss ur progress or anywhere were u might improve :)

id say go fo r it ucan always leave if u dont like it :)

  2. I can't say for aol but most call centers are a large room full of people who are "fed"calls from acentral switching system. You are trained in the appropriate resoponses and to be friendly but business like, no "chit chat"  You are expected to work quickly and accurately and not get ruffeled under pressure not even if the customer cusses at you which they may.   Your calls will be monitored and you may be corrected if you do not do something the way you were told. Promptness in getting to work, getting on the phones, getting back from breaks, etc` is a very big thing.  So is following all rules.

You will need computer skills, a pleasant voice, a lot of vocal stamina because you will be talking almost the whole 8 hrs, the ability and willingness to follow directions.  Some days it will be a great job because you helped someone or made your sales quote, somedays it will be terrible because every one you talked with was angry and wanted something you can't do and the supervisor was being grouchy, somedays you'll feel like you could be replaced by a not too well trained monkey (but you wouldn't inflict that on the monket).  Some days you may absolutely love it.  A lot depends on the people you work with and your immediate supervisor.  A lot depends on whether you are handling complaints or doing sales or upselling (adding products or services for an existing customer) and a lot depends on you.  It will be a lot of the same thing over and over and over.  You will sit at a computer monitor and talk through a head set.   There may be special awared dfor dealing with difficult people, meeting a particular goal etc.   There will be a chance to be prmoted to better projects and perhaps some level of management.  Pay is generally low to start but bonuses and extras and raises add up so it can be pretty good.

And when lunch or break comes you need and want to get up and walk around.  You probably can't eat at your desk but there is probably a place there to eat like a break area.   You also probably can not have drinks or candy or gum at your desk though some allow water.  You do not want to have your mouth full while talking to a customer.

  3. How many people call a call center when things are going well. Call centers can be a pretty rough gig, angry people at the end of their rope, waiting seconds for you to have the answer at your fingertips.

That being said it can be a rewarding experience that could involve some advancement.

    Good Luck!
