I'm 14 and am really interested in becoming a doctor but I don't know what it will take. How much school will I need and how hard is it? Once you become a doctor how busy are you? Is it worth it? Will I still have time for a life? I want to get married and have a family. Would that be possible or would I just be way to busy??? Any doctors out there willing to help me out?

  1. im not a doctor but ive also looked into this topic a lot as i too am thinking of a career as a doctor. you have to take 8 years of schooling. 4 years of it will be in a regular college and you can major in anything you want. the next step is med school. to get accepted you have to take some specific courses. now every school is different but you have to taken certain science classes and some of the highest maths.not really sure what ones in particular but you should take all the sciences you can in order to prepare. once in medschool you do nothing but science. med school lasts 4 years then you start an internship in a teaching hospital. you finally start getting paid. as for a family it would be tough starting one when your just getting into becoming a doctor so it might be best to wait. but then again it is totally possible as ive read many people get married and even have kids in med school. having life outside the hospital will be hard. you will often have to be on call, meaning they can page you to go to work anytime for an emergency. its a demanding job.
