Whats life like in the navy while not deployed?

  1. Clean the ship or on shore duty, whatever your command is, clean it and sit around.  

    I am serious, 80 percent of the military is cleaning and sitting around waiting, the 10 percent is training, and the other 10 percent is real deal fighting.  


  2. Here's what a typical day was like for me, a nuke MM on a sub:

    Muster at 0700- go over the POD and what our division was doing that day.

    Break off into work group or detail for whatever job, and yes, cleaning is a part of it.

    Lunch at 1200-ish

    Finish the days work at 1400-1600, maybe longer, depending on what we're doing.

    Duty section takes over until next day.

    No watches, you get to go home after the day (unless your home is the boat).  Not too bad a gig.
