  1. I find turning it off when not home save quite a bit on electric bill.  Also there are mornings that the temp is higher than later in the day.  Much better to open windows and close the blinds to keep the sun out.


  2. It depends on where you live. If you are in an extremely humid part of the country, then it is better to turn it a couple of degrees above your comfort level, thus keeping the humidity under control. If humidity is not a factor, then shut it completely off during the day. It's really a geographical thing.

  4. It is best to set your thermostat  1 or 2 degrees warmer than normal when your not at home. If you turn it off, the temperature of your carpet, furniture, bedding, clothing, everything in your house will increase and  it will take a long time to cool everything down, not just the warm air in your house. Your a/c will have to run longer and work extra hard  to bring the temperatue of everything down.
