  1. With herbs the preference is a tincture -you call it liquid .....- The tincture when put beneath the tongue goes directly into your system through the salveries!!!

Health practitioners prefer this method -especially since little is lost in the GI tract and eliminated !!!

Just like the best vitamin uptake is done introvenously for max . absorption so are herbal tinctures for sublingual-for the same reason!!!!!!!

  2. An extract is stronger than just powdered herb. But some capsules have a dried extract in them, so they are just as potent as liquid extracts. (Some herbs don't work unless they are extracted, like Kava and Black Cohosh.) I prefer liquid extracts for most things. Really nasty stuff like Goldenseal root, I will take in a capsule. Unless I'm seriously sick, then I mix the powder w/honey. The real difference is in digestion and absorption. Liquid extracts begin to absorb while still in your mouth and require very little digestion, so they work faster. I guess you can call that "more effective."

  3. My view is that it depends on the quality of the ingredients and what you are trying to achieve.  Liquids are absorbed faster, but if they are of lower quality than a powered version (capsule), then you are not getting the full benefits or what you're paying for.  Plus some ingredients (not all) lose some of their effectiveness when they're converted into liquid.

Whether herbs or vitamins, I prefer capsules (NOT tablets) because they're in a form much closer to their original form, and thus closer to nature.

About herb purity:  Herbs are much more likely to contain contaminants than vitamins because there are not many standards for testing herbs (see all of the herbs that failed consumerlab.com testing).  I'll spare you the stories of contaminated herbs we've rejected where I work (CNCA premium supplements).  But you can usually trust brands that have passed consumerlab testing.
