I watched a video on making your own biofuel and I've seen video's in the past about turning your car into a dual fuel car that runs off of diesel and then can be switch to run off of vegetable oil while running. Which is the better route to go?

  1. making

  2. Well, with a veggie oil conversion you have to convert the car once.

With biodiesel you have to convert the fuel everytime.

    Your call.

Do keep in mind that if you're using waste vegetable oil (used fryer grease), you need to do some stuff to condition the oil for reuse.

    - Filter it (to get particles of food out that might clog injectors)

    - Neutralize the pH (acidity) of whatever might be in it.

    - Remove water that might be in it.

Doing all that is nearly as hard as making biodiesel.

It's also possible to not bother removing water or neutralizing pH, and just hope it doesn't trash your injection system. But you MUST filter.  No choice there!
