  1. One major cost difference will be food. Great danes need lots of food, I bet it will cost at least 5 times as much to feed the great dane over a cat.

  2. I own a Great Dane - it cost me $350 to desex her, $100 month on dog food (expensive brand), beds/kennels need to be the biggest you can buy - so they cost an arm and a leg.

Great Danes can have problems with bloat which is fatal, and hip dysplasia.

But all that aside they are loyal and big clowns - just be careful (fractured my toe cause she jumped on it - and she gave me a black eye once)

My mum has three cats, it cost $120 to desex each one, $20 a month on food (supermarket brand)

  3. I'm just guessing, but I think a great dane would be more expensive...It'd probably eat more than a cat, and the great dane would take up more of your time (walking, playing, etc). And if you get a puppy, you have to house train it, which might cost you to have your carpets cleaned (lol, my dog is tiny and he was enough trouble to house train!). And a cat would live longer anyway.

  4. oddly, I am going to say they MIGHT be the same..

cost of the dog will be higher, and for the first year expenses for the dog will be higher.

it costs more to spay or neuter dogs, and vaccinations are slightly more PLUS a puppy needs LOTS of toys and stuff.. and of course lessons (obedience lessons)

but after the first  year.. the cats expenses might creep up there

cat food is more expensive because cats are true carnivours.. they NEED meat in their diet - meat is expensive (sadly many cat food use too much corn and not enough meat.. this is why we have so many fat or diabetic cats)

also cats need cat litter over and over..

so in the long run they might be about the same. depends if you are a good owner or cheap out in lots of areas...

holidays - you can take a dog with you - but probably have to pay somebody to look after a cat.

  5. definately a cat :) i find some for free on kijiji.com

  6. As a great dane owner I would have to say a great dane because my dane is only 9 months old and it costs:

food $300 a month for dog food and raw meat

Advantage Multi $209  6 month supply for 115 pound dog

This doesn't count his toys or treats.

  7. any kind of dog would be more expensive than a cat

  8. Whaa? You need to ask such?

Well, I've got your answer: a horse.

  9. A great dane for sure. Cats are cheap in comparison.

  10. great dane because they need special pills, and lots of exercise. and needs lots of attention and lots of training.  but cats there not like dog they some times just want to be left alone.

  11. i think that a cat would definetly be cheaper, and cats dont eat much, i have a dog and a cat and my cat costs like 10 less than my cat but i love them both

  12. Cats are relatively cheap...they don't eat much, exercise themselves...

feed , keep litter box clean, take to vet every so often

a great dane eats a lot, requires a lot of exercise, larger vet bills....
