  1. Even though he's moved up in weight, Joe wasn't even a power puncher at 168, and hasn't added any power moving up.

He still has that tremendous work rate, but arm punching at the higher weight class puts him at more of a disadvantage than at 168.

Roy Jones may not be the same unhittable force he was earlier in his career, but he's still pretty fast, has a lot more power than Hopkins, and certainly has even gone against heavyweights (albeit carefully chosen heavyweights).

Pavlik or Jones, he's in danger of getting his bell wrung.  Still, he's not just a flurry puncher, but a good defensive fighter and a technician.  It's difficult to get a read from the Hopkins fight.  I think Joe would have more offensive success against Pavlik than Jones, and Jones would seem to be like Hopkins, but with real power, but Jones has deteriorated more with age (and the side distractions over the years) than Hopkins has.

Still, Jones is where the really big money is at, so I'd have to guess that is next.

Other interesting possibilities - a Hopkins rematch, Antonio Tarver.

  2. Roy said he wants to sign a 2 fight deal, where he goes to Wales to fight Calzaghe first. Then, if need for a rematch, they fight on US soil.

Frank Warren is currently in talks

  3. gotta be Roy Jones - then retirement. After last night's fight though, I wonder would there be any big demand in the US for it?

  4. Calzaghe should retire undefeated. He probably has enough money now to buy Wales. Kelly Pavlik would hurt him! I can already see Pavlik's straight, very hard punches going right through Calzaghe's weak windmill punches. Pavlik would knock Joe down several times and then KO him once Joe was staggered. Pavlik is the #1 finisher in boxing right now.

  5. After seeing Joe fight, he shouldn't fight Roy. I believe Roy will kill him. Joe won the fight but all that pitty pat fighting, Please. B-hop beat hisself and thought he was going to paste his way into a win? After the knock down Joe pitty pat his way into a win by points. Pitty pat or not, they put points on the card. Roy Jones can move, fast and a good counter puncher. Roy can fight off the ropes. I like to see this fight.

  6. Calzaghe vs Roy Jones jr, i think if that was going to happen (which is likely), it will be the last fight for Calzaghe. It will be in New York (just what I think).

  7. I do believe he will go for Roy Jones.

I dont think he will go for Pavlik, I dont see him winning that fight and I am sure he knows the major risk that fight would be. Jermaine Taylor hits a lot harder than Calzaghe and after a round of having his bell run by J.T, Pavlik went back to his corner and laughed it off. No way Calzaghe could KO pavlik, so he would have to go 12 with him and thats a awful long time for Pavlik to swing around those heavy hands of his.

  8. joe shouid retire not been his best since lacy,he cant seem to finish oponents off
