Do you know where I can find the guidelines that tell you whats exactly on the written and what your expected to do for the practical?

Right now I live in TX and I just finished taking my SB tests but I'm moving back home(CA) in a few months and will have to take the tests again out there. Since CA requires 1600 and TX only requires 1500 I have to work in TX for 3 months, which will be equal to 100 hours or go to school in CA to get 100 hours. But either way I'll still have to take the SB tests in CA.

  1. The written is really easy.... buy the state board exam study book and memorize most of the questions. Its exactly like that. In the partical it depends... You find out the day you go what procedures you have to do. Make sure to finish the disinfection procedure and constantly wash your hands. Plz try to take a model with shoulder length, thin hair... its much easier to work with.....

    Good luck...

  2. Here's the website that can help you to know what exactly you will be expected to know to pass the state board test in California......http://www.barbercosmo.ca.gov/forms_pubs...

It will also tell you what you will be tested on. I went to state board in April and you will not be tested on certain things, they really need to update the perfomance criteria.

But they no longer do blow dry and curling, but you will be tested on thermal pressing and press and curl.

Instead of doing 9 hair color applications  you will get 1 out of 4... they are all virgin applications ... virgin going darker with 1/4 subsection, virgin bleach with 1/8 of an inch subsection...that is the only hair color application that you will do that subsection for, virgin hair color going lighter with 1/4 subsection and going back to natural with 1/2 inch regrowth.

I hope that this doesn't confuse you.

You will either draw a permanent wave, soft perm, or virgin sodium hydroxide application with 1/8 of an inch subsection. I highly recomment buying the state board review for $20 bucks here's the website.....http://shop.jzbeauty.com/storefront/inde...

This book really helped me and alot of the questions are on the test.

So i hope that helps you out and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

    Good luck
