Whats proper cuts to fell tree in correct direction?

Question

Want to cut down tree close to house. Need to make sure it falls the way I want it to. Start cut on side you want it to fall?notch it on that side then make final cut on side you don't want it to fall??

Keep in mind, the growth of the tree and wind can cause the tree to fall the wrong way even with the proper cuts on the trunk.  Might be money well spent to hire a pro with insurance?

You are correct.  Just make sure when you make the final cut on the back side, you cut just below the notch.  If the tree looks heavy on the house side, you may want to trim some of those branches first to make it easier to get it to fall the way you want it to.  Good luck and be careful.  Have a great day.
