  1. Muslim religious observance that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, believed to be the month in which the Qur'an began to be revealed. The name "Ramadan" is taken from the name of this month

In addition to fasting, Muslims are encouraged to read the entire Qur'an.

  2. I have no idea, unless there is a dam called Raman, which i have my doubts.  Or did you actually mean Ramadan?  Which is an Islamic holy month.

  3. A holiday,

  4. ramandam is raman for dams (ladies), or it is ram-and-am (the verb is to be). Just kidding.

What you are looking for is called Ramadan:

  5. Well, it has nothing to do with France, except for the fact that there are Muslims living in France, as there are Muslims living in loads of countries.

It's a month of the Islamic calendar, when Muslims fast from sunup to sundown.  They eat, drink, smoke NOTHING.  Many people become quite grumpy as the day wears on.  I'm not sure why they fast, but that it's part of the religion.

I love when it falls near Xmas, and the US Post Office sells stamps for it, as if it were the sort of holiday when one sends greeting cards.

  6. there you go... two definitions.  Using a search engine... type Ramadam and you'll get plenty more.
