the definition of refurbished means "repaired". These cell phones are "used" by people at one point, and were sent back to the company because of technical problems. Once they are at the company, they are repaired and fixed up. For example: If a phone has old software, they will update it to the new software. If paint is scratched on the phone, it will be re-painted. Refurbished phones are "like-new" and sold for a discounted price. So basically, its like buying a used car.
