  1. overstock.com

  2. for things like mini weding bubbles, guest books, shoes, lingerie, veils, car ribbons, tulle...etc, its worth checking out www.ebay.com

I have saved so much money on ebay.

  3. My brother and his wife had the most beautiful wedding in the entire family history....

He and his wife married in a small chapel in the woods - obviously was rural chapel.....And - get this - he and his wife arrived at the wedding in carriage pulled by 2 white horses.

The chapel cost him a small donation to the church - renting the carriage and horses cost $300.  A local rancher rented their carriage / horses.  The rancher drove the carriage himself, and since he stayed for the wedding - the horses and carriage stayed too.

All the guests family brought their home "best dishes" for the reception - which was held in the Church basement.  The family decorated the Church for them - thus costing them nothing.

No catering company could ever have provided us the feast that about 50 old women did.  They can't cook as good.

Another thing to note - rural churches have basements that are almost always set up as full service kitchens, and have the basement laid out for large gatherings, complete with tables and chairs.

Music was provided by home stereo system, and the "younger set" arranging for a good evening supply of appropriate music.  It is amazing the quality of music you can get supplied if you let a couple teens be the "DJ's" - obviously with a little guidance in selection of music.  :)  Also, for some reason - those DJ's felt compelled to take requests from the party very seriously too.  LOL

SO - they ended up having gorgeous wedding in chapel in woods, with fine family atmosphere - unlimited amount of room for guests....and was so very relaxed that it is very much remembered as the "best wedding" ever.   And - it only cost them a couple hundred bucks....

It was a very fun time for all.  :P

The scenery was gorgous, the couple beamed, the guests were very relaxed, no time limit on "how late" food will be available from the caterers or serving sizes.....No stress....

    ----------------

The point of this story - is that having a "formal" wedding, a reception, having the wedding remembered by all as "the best one"....does not have to be expensive - not if you are creative......

No web sites were needed for this one.   Just a few phone calls to ask around about "who knew a good location?" and "where I could get a carriage and horses really cheap", and "do you think both sides of the family would get into an old fashioned wedding?" and "would they like to bring their favorite dishes?"

  4. Here are a couple of sites that I have found.  I am sure that something will work for you.  Most importantly, be inventive with your ideas! *wink*

    1. Instead of mailing invitations use email for invites and replys.

    2. Don't invite as many people to the reception (where food is served)

    3. Look for great online deals for dresses, shoes, etc.

    4. Book near a holiday when churches are already decorated for the season.

  5. www.jubliss.com

  6. Bed, Bath and Beyond

    Oriental Trading.com

    TheKnot.com (sometimes they have sales)

  7. Ebay. Also I ordered silk flowers from save-on-crafts. They have a great discontinued section. Try oriental trading.

  8. Walmart has some pretty nice stuff.  I would look in local craft stores to make some items.  My fiancee and I are getting our invitations at Staples.  You can also look at orientaltrading.com for many theme items (they have stuff for every type of party out there). If you are not really sure what you want or what look you're going for you can look at theknot.com, but you have to be careful.  They do not always have the best prices.  Theknot.com does however, have many sales and awesome advice and ideas.  My advice is once you have an idea of what you want, then google it and look for the cheapest version of it.

  9. Walmart.com ?

  10. When I was planning for my wedding I signed up for the craft store's email list so they could send me coupons. I don't know what is close to you but I signed up at    Joann.com and Michaels.com  because they have stores around where I live. They will send you sale papers, about one a month with coupons which usually includes a 40% or 50% one item coupon! You can ask your mom and or a friend to do the same so they can go with you and use their coupon for you. You can buy all kinds of cake stuff, decorations, fabrics, and so on and save a bunch. Also, hobbylobby.com has a 40% one item coupon to print off their website and that store has a lot of really pretty home decor items, plus craft and wedding sections in the store.

  11. http://www.bulkweddingsupplies.com/

they sell bulk items super cheap

  12. www.theknot.com has regular clearance items, usually quite gorgeous.  there are also a c**p load of ideas and advice and whatever you need for your wedding (guest list organizer, budgeter, you can even make a website for your wedding to keep guests and friends up to date on all events. ) It's all free and VERY simple to use.

If you're looking for an inexpensive but gorgeous dress check out www.bridalonlinestore.com that's where my friend got hers (and it was GORGEOUS) and I'm getting my $1200 dress on the site for $399.

  13. I bought stuff from both of these sites and they were GREAT!
