It's an internet telephone service that offers telephone numbers in other countries and discount pricing to other countries. Whats great about skype is you can take it with you like on vacation as long as you have an internet connection. CAlls can be placed through your computer , usb phone, dual skype landline phones, smart cell phones with a data plan or a wifi phone. Many people swear by it. I personally use it like a teen line so Grandma can continue to talk all day. i paid like $60 for unlimited in and out calling to the US and canada for a year, not a month a year ! . So you can see why people like it. Lastly if both people talking are using skype its totally free no matter where both parties are !
