  1. LOL! I know I have a 1965 Ford F250 4X4 300 six, four speed and 4:10 gears.

This thing gets 16 mpg! WITHOUT overdrive. I know that don't sound like a lot but the new trucks don't even get that and mine is paid for!!! Plus it looks really cool! When I rebuild the engine, I am expecting 18-19 mpg and better than that when I put in the 5spd overdrive.

With the rebuild, I will get better emissions (because it will be more efficient) than most of these new cars WITHOUT a catalytic converter.

  2. There are plenty of cars from the 80s and 90s that could do the same thing.  Ford Festivas & Escorts, Honda Civics, and Toyota Corollas could all get 40+ mpg.

The problem is not 1 of those cars could meet todays emissions or crash standards.

I'll go a step further.  A new Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, Chevy Aveo, and Nissan Versa can all match the Smart Fortwo mileage, have more room, and are faster.

  3. Well know the smart car is made of 100% "recycled" cars. Like cars in the dump that were crushed up. That is what the smart car are made of. And the seats are also re-used leather from other cars. And it has really good fuel usage. It like the perfect car for anyone who cares about the environment! (Just like it's going to be my science teacher's new car)

  4. Thats another case of Big Biz taking advantage of Honest people looking for a cost effective way to travel.

  5. The new cars have a more advanced smog modification which cost us more in efficiency. They reduce the chamber temperature which cost us more in efficiency . Yes it does produce less NO2 but it produces more CO.

  6. They're small and uncomfortable.  This is why the left think they are great cars.

  7. That's funny - I recently read an article that asked the exact same question:

I think the SmartCar is pretty disappointing.  For a car that small, it really should get better mileage.  It doesn't do much better than the Toyota Yaris, which costs about the same but is bigger and more stable.  Diesel SmartCars supposedly get really good mileage, but they don't pass US emissions tests.
