It's tax free, good shop selection, cheap cabs, cheap fuel, friendly people and very cosmopolitan with extremely low crime rate.. You can go to water parks, snow ski in mall of Emirates, go to beach, have camel rides, go dune bashing, visit loads and loads of good restaurants and bars.  Load of 5* hotels to visit with good watersports facilities.  It's sunny all the year round.. just avoid it from june to September when it really is too hot and Ramadan in September this year when you can't eat or drink in public from sunrise to sunset..  Oh and traffic bad.. On the whole it's a good place and the majority of people who live here seem to think so..

It is truly a desert, with not a lot of history, dating back to maybe just 50 years or even less.

It has been making a lot of developments in the real estate industry and other construction areas but other wise there isn't much you can do in Dubai.

Dubai is a country with lots of money and very good advertising, when in fact it is far from a great place to visit and truly awful to live.

There are a few crazy and fun things to do (dune bashing in 4x4s, skiing, emirates mall) but it is really just a construction site in one of the hottest places on the planet.

i guess fauxtra has never been there if he/she thinks theres nothing to do there is plenty to do and the one good thing is u dont have to choose between pool and shopping u can do both as shops are open till about 10pm there are also parks, snowdome, water parks, heritage village, museum, the souks, desert trips, cinema, horse racing, live shows.i left there few years ago but as long as u have reasonable amoutn of money theres load s to do and its very westernised.

It is a place that has billions of dollars from oil and they are building more more and more stuff by the second. they plan on building a building about 5 times the siye of the empie state builidning

Special about Dubai/UAE is that this Emirates got developed in within 50 years from almost "nothing" to a hot spot destination where everything has to be bigger, higher and more expensive than anywhere else. First "7 Star" hotel, tallest building, man made islelands etc.

Special about Dubai/UAE is that it is posssible for all kind of Nationalities and different Religions to live together peacefully.

Special about Dubai/UAE is that foreigners make 85% of the total population.

Special about Dubai are the biggest and newest malls worldwide.

Special also is the ruler of Dubai: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who is a great leader with great visions.

Special about Dubai/UAE is that it's a peacefull country in the Middle East.

Special about Dubai/UAE is that they have the biggest construction sites and the most cranes.

Special about Dubai/UAE is that it seems to be the land of milk and honey for many people from the Subcontinent and Asia.

To make a long story short. Dubai is an Emirate of the superlatives and who ever is able to negotiate a very good salary package incl. housing, transportation, school fees etc. will live like in heaven. But - where is sun there is shadow. In Dubai and the UAE there are many people suffering from low payment, skyrocking rents etc.

You will find some of  the mentioned points also in others countries. But what makes Dubai really special is, that you will find all the menttioned at one spot. DUBAI!
