A fox terrier can be said to be tenacious. Trained to go down holes after foxes they will not give up. Likewise Bloodhounds. When on the scent they will not give up, in fact they will keep going until they drop dead.

A person could be said to be tenacious if they are relentless in trying to convince you of something, or holds on to a belief no matter what anyone does to change their minds.

A person or animal holding on to a ledge or tree limb so as not to fall has a tenacious grip.

Persistent, won't give up, wont let go, etc.

How about a spider? They'll build a web in a corner someplace, I'll get rid of the web but not catch the spider, and then before long the spider is right back in the corner rebuilding the web. They seem mighty tenacious to me!
