Whats tha difference between PCI-E x1, PCI-E x2, [CI-E x8, PCI-E x16, etc etc?

not transfer rate they all transfer at the same speeds its jest the bandwidth rates (the number of pins). how much can flow in each direction not the speed. People get that confused allot. The 1.0 and 2.0 are jest variants of the same socket(s) 2.0 now we are talking about speed when it comes to the variants.

size and transfer rates. pci-e x1 is smallest x16 is largest. you can use a smaller in a larger one but it is a waste. pci-e 2.0 has twice the bandwidth but is backwards compatible i.e. you can use a pci-e 1.0 in a pci-e 2.0 slot and vice versa.
