I'm pretty sure it's Monty Python's Holy Grail, brilliant movie, so funny - it's set in the Dark Ages and they do talk about burning a witch at one point and there's monks who chant then hit themselves with a plank of wood.  Check the link to see if you recognise it.  It's a part from the French Knights taunting the group.
