  1. AVG!!!

  2. I highly recommend Avira anti-virus. Some good links below if you need them.

  3. avast is the best . It even has a virus recovery database,.......

  4. Don't pay for Norton. Download any ONE of the programs I link to in the sources and then uninstall Norton, and install the Anti Virus program you downloaded. Don't do anything else between uninstalling Norton and installing the new software, your computer is very vulnerable at that time. Also be sure to update whatever software you chose.

Things to remember, only install one of the Anti Virus programs. Computer don't like to have more than one Anti Virus suit on them at a time, because more than one will conflict with each other. Also be sure to update the software after you install it.

  5. There are several good ones out there, but I prefer Kaspersky.  It runs seamlessly on my system, but it's not free.  If you want free protection you can check a website like CNET and download one.  I would avoid Trendmicro, Norton, and McAfee for now.

As for any viruses or malware--just go to housecall.com by Trendmicro and it will do a free scan for you and help you get rid of any offenders.

    Hope that helps.

  6. the best ones are actually free.  try avg free antivirus, or avast

  7. I have NOD32 it was pretty expensive but I have never had any type of virus or spyware on my comp.

  8. You have received some very good answers.  Please stay away from Nortons as it is `pure junk, and a hugh resource hog.

Avira from Germany has a very high rate of detection of about 97.6%.

Avast gives you a background scanner, root kit detector, and daily updates.   Both are free for home personal use only.

Download the free versions of which ever one you decide to go with.

  9. Free spyware programs to download are Spybot S&D, SuperAntiSpyware, Ad-Aware 2007 and AVG. Most popular free antivirus programs are AVG Anti-Virus, Avira AntiVir , Avast  etc. Check out http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-sAFtLsc8e... for more details.

  10. Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 8.0

    Bitdefender

    NOD32

    F-Secure

    The Shield Deluxe

  11. Did'nt know too much about computers until i bought my laptop 3 weeks ago.  The Norton Virus System is the best & most reliable service that you will get.  Had them install it in mine & i haven't had a problem at all.

  12. I personally prefer AVG, i use the free version and i have no problems at all. But either AVG or Norton. I don't like panda at all, and i haven't tried it, but I've heard some bad things about Mcaafe. If money is the issue then i highly recommend AVG free.
