  1. maybe trying to stay away from additives, high fructose corn syrup, MSG, and Red dye 40.

I am a special education teacher and have had students that had allergies or reactions to them. It was a huge difference that is for sure!

  2. You might try a quality brand of Omega 3. It can work wonders for some.

  3. adderall

  4. Personally, I prefer Concerta. It lasts 12 hours, then there's a four-hour transition period while it's wearing off. I feel very calm and focussed with it.

The only drawbacks are slight appetite loss (but you can get over that. I did after a few months), and, very rarely, sleeplessness If you take it too late in the morning (:P that's me).

I think I also take 10mg Ritalin if I need a boost in the evening for homework.

  5. Micronized and liquid clinoptylolite (zeolite) for therapeutic use.

  6. I don't take any medicines by my own choice. Some of the medicines on the market are known to be linked with ulcers of the stomach.

  7. It depends on your personal chemistry and make up.  A good medication for one person might be terrible for another.  That's why you go to a psychiatrist who is experienced with treating ADHD, and work with him/her to get the best medication and dose for your specific situation.  Also, you will have better results if you combine the medication with learning coping strategies for getting your symptoms under control, so they don't interfere with your life.  A pill alone is not going to fix the whole problem, only make it manageable so you can take it the rest of the way.

  8. How about physical exercise? As Michael Phelps has proved, you can overcome adhd without medicine.
