  1. c = 5/2

  2. well if the point of the problem is to solve for c, you want to get c all by itself. so in order to do that you would have to do something to the 2/3. since it is positive 2/3, you can can subtract that 2/3 to get 0 so the c is by itself. but you cant just erase that 2/3. you have to subtract the 2/3 from the 4 as well. so now you have... 3 1/3=c.

    this would be a simple problem to do in your head. just reword it. 2/3 plus what will give you four? since your are trying to find the difference between 2/3 and 4 you just subtract 2/3 from 4 (like above) to get your answer

  3. subtract (2/3) from 4 that give you c. because you cancel the 2/3 on the other side. C= 3 1/3 or 3.3333333    the trick is to get the variable by itself.

  4. Division gets precedence over addition, so...

    4 = 2/3 + c

    4 - 2/3 = c

    12/3 - 2/3 = c

    10/3 = c

    c = 3 1/3

  5. If four equals two thirds plus c, then one could safely assume that c equals four minus two thirds. Therefore, c is equal to three and one third.
