  1. im approx 5'5", and i use a 155, although i am quite experienced.  If u are just starting, i suggest you get a board that comes around your shoulders, so it will be easily manuevered.  i suggest you use around a 170.  also, when you are purchasing  it, check to see how flexible it is.  the more flex the easier it will be to turn and learn to carve.  to a limit of course. dont go by the deck graphic.  find a board that fits you best, and dont go for a big name brand if its your first.  for all u know u might spend 700$ on a board and not like snowboarding.

  2. There are four main factors to take into consideration when buying a board your weight and the type of riding you want to do are the main ones. Also your height and level of riding come into it also. So its hard to acurrately recommend a board length for you without knowing your weight, but as you are a new rider you will be best off with a board on the short side as it will be easier to turn and learn the basics on. If you are an average weight for your height for an All mountain board go for around a 158 for a freestyle board go for around a 156. Good luck with the riding.
