  1. http://www.parkers.co.uk/

Or you can buy a Parker's Guide at most newsagents which is cheaper if you want to look at different cars. This will give you mpg insurance etc.

My partner is a mechanic so hates fixing his own car we therefore ALWAYS buy Toyota because they are so reliable.  We have recently bought a 1lt Yaris which is doing 58-62 mpg (that's petrol not diesel). It is the only car company I know of where the individual employee is responsible for the reliability of the car to promote highest standards in manufacture.

  2. Unless you are mechanically inclined and capable of Do It Yourself auto repairs, I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT or NEVER RECOMMEND buying a Toyota Starlet bec just keeping it running might be your #1 priority rather than mpg.

Before making the purchase of any car no matter what price, I would recommend you searching the intermet forums for recurring problems that owners of particular vehicle(s) to include various Toyotas are having.  Note these problems and headaches normally occur after warranty has expired... and personally my own experience has been with older cars incl Toyotas they require or have to be driven every day and it can drive one crazy when little things start popping up too frequently out of the blue that requires going back to the mechanic and opening your wallet which one can/might expect from an older vehicle esp if the price you paid was low...otherwise the owner would simply have kept it?

Personally I would recommend you looking at Japanese made automobiles between 1998 and 2000, and then again make sure the owner had the oil changed regularly every 5K miles as well as the ATF Fluid every 30K miles esp engines, transmissions and certain electrical components are very costly then you most likely will require the services of a good mechanic at $60 or more per hour.

    Hope the Above Info Helps!
