We keep hearing that golf is a booming sport in China, illegal courses or no - but how much does it cost to play a round?

The average membership cost at one of China's 500 golf clubs was more than £30,000 in 2008, according to the most recent survey. Similarly, green fees are the highest of any country, with Chinese golf fans paying around £100 a round at the weekend, which more even than the average price of a game in Dubai - and three or four times what it costs in the majority of Europe's courses.
