  1. i use a 30 on one saddle and a 32 on the other

  2. woah mine is 16 inch i have a 15.2 horse also

  3. If it is neoprene I would say 30 inches-32 inches.   Don't use neoprene on paints.  You have to take into consideration how fat the horse is not just the height.  We use both on fat or TB style horses.

  4. I recently asked how to correctly measure for purchasing a new cinch for western saddles.  Lenore R told me this :

If it is a western saddle, then this is what you do:

Put the saddle on your horse. Measure from the front rigs, and subtract 16. You need to subtract 16 because you need to leave 8 inches of latigo on each side of the saddle.

    Hope it helps.

  5. I would start with a 30".  A lot would depend on how your saddle is rigged.  If it has a dropped rigging that comes out lower on the saddle, then you might need a shorter cinch.  You can always let out the off billet and latigo if it is too short, but as you have learned there is not much you can do it it is too long.

  6. Depends on how fat your horse is too and to some extent what breed he is.

I have a 15.2 arab mare that uses a 28 inch western girth (neoprene or toklat wool).  But then on the other hand I have a 16.2 thoroughbred mare that uses a 30 in girth.

Easiest way to know the best girth size for your horse is to measure right around the area the girth would go and compare that with girths as you are shopping.

  7. you can use neoprene on paints.  I do.  but yeah, I have 15.3 horse, slightly underweigth and I use a 30 inch.

  8. measure   your horse ... depends on how fat or thin your horse is
