  1. EAA Witness in matte black, single and double action, and it has a feature I find very interesting; the rails are reversed-outside on the slide and inside on the frame, which makes it a little more slender.  Very accurate and reliable; I bought a pair of them for 360 apiece and am very impressed.  I still keep my Commander but it is worth so much I hate to take it outside.

  2. The best choice is the Colt Combat Commander.*

  3. Para-Ord makes a DA/SA 1911.

    Beretta PX4 45 acp, DA/SA

    HK USP45 DA/SA

    Sig 229 DA/SA

  4. I like the glock and you have to think so many police departments use them so they must be good!

  5. I just bought a FNP-45. It comes with (3) 14 round magazines and the recoil isn't bad at all.

My second choice is the CZ-97B. Magazines are expensive but a sweet shooter anyway.

  6. Sig 220, Ruger P90, or if you really are looking for newest thing check out the HK45 series. Any of these are good pistols just a matter of how much you want to spend.

I don't know much about the Kimber. But I would imagine its priced close to the HK45. And for that kind of money I would much rather have the HK.

  7. If you want DA/SA ability then your only choice in a 1911 type pistol is a Para-Ordnance.  In other types some good ones are the HK 45, HK USP, Sig 220, and FN FNP45

  8. I would go with GLOCK, it is fair priced and very reliable as majortity of law enforcment uses it.

  9. Thats a taboo question to ask. everyone has different opinions about every gun. and each gun has its legions of fans and supporters. You are decided on the .45 cal which is a good start. takes away half the hassel. as for the gun, its all a matter of personel preference; the feel, wieght, recoil, ect. everything that makes the gun different including the price. since your saying the best, i assume money is no factor. rule of thumb when purchasing (anything really) the more expensive the more likely it is better. Now i am refering to stock, factory made products. not custom made or custom ordered products that may vary in prices. i can say look at sig saur guns, i hear they are very good. last, i suggest you find a range that rents guns to shoot, and start handling different guns. get a feel to what is out there and what you prefer. last, do research, dont immediately decide on a gun because someone said it is the best. does it have a good, history, is it reliable, easy to use, accurate, ect. all are factors.

i suggest get several guns in mind that you like and would prefer and do research on them and start narrowing your scope.

    hope this helps if anything.

  10. Double Action automatic .45 ACP,  SIG P220.

  11. You claimed to want DA/SA ability then mentioned the Kimber Custom II TLE ( a SA only gun).  For DA/SA a Sig P220, Ruger P90 (get them NOW before they disappear from the catalog like the P89), or  Springfield XD would be good.  I own a KImber Custom II standard (the night sites and stippling of the TLE are not worth it to me) and love the gun.  It stays tight after nearly 600 rounds.  My only complaint is the very fragile matte finish that is destined to need a refinish (at least the slide part).
