  1. i never use one ,but most tourist get by real nice w/ "lonely planet" and if you can get it "dicovery channel" puts out an excelent pocket guide

  2. We used Lonely Planet Southeast Asia when we visit HCM & Saigon last summer 07.

  3. when you visit to vietnam, i think that you should have a map, and find some information of popular tour on the internet. it's a best guide book for you. Vietnameses are very friendly, will help you to see and understand something you want when you visit.

you should book a hotel at place, where you will come. it's very useful. so, you access the website http://www.tftravel.com.vn, to book airticket and hotel in vietnam.

  4. Lonely Planet is still the best which is why it controls 90% of the market. Just expect that any place you go to will be filled with Lonely Planet wielding tourists. It built its reputation on being unbiased (ie: the writers do not take commission for recommendations). This is not the case in Vietnam, so recommendations are cash-based.

There is a very good unbiased online guide at www.travelfish.org .

  5. Lonely planet is usually best.

    Try these sites:

    http://www.vietnam.info.vn/

    http://www.guidevietnam.com/

    http://www.vietnam-travel.com/
