  1. Since digital technology allows you to view the picture once it is taken, you can experiment with a variety of iso's

Higher end cameras allow for an increase in sensitivity without major noise.

I've used my Nikon D200 @ iso 1200 without major noise.

Experiment with the iso's your camera offers and you'll be the best judge.

  2. The ISO is not your real concern. First, turn off the flash. Use the auto setting (with no flash) to get an idea of the available light as our eyes play tricks. Then, depending on several variables, you may want to change the white balance setting. Last but by no means least, depending on the subject matter, you may want to use a tripod and a wired or IR remote to trip the shutter. The problem with an ISO for this type of work depends on how much noise you can get away with when using a higher setting indoors. I would never use one higher than 200 and that can be too noisy in some cases.

  3. What are your shutter speeds. I always shoot at the lowest ISO possible as long as the shutter does not go below 1/60 to make the shot.
