Whats the best Railroad Stock to invest in?

  2. Since there are only 4 large U S railroads, naming the top 3 should not be too difficult.  1.  UNP 2. BNI 3. NSC.  I am sort of partial to the UNP myself although I do not own any.  I have sort of held off because a down turn in the economy should adversly effect their earnings.  Long term the railroads should do well.  They are about 7x more efficient than trucks and about 40x more efficient than airplanes.  Also they do not necessarily require oil for propulsion.  They can run on electricity which can be generated by nuclear or solar or wind. Try runinng a frigging airplane on electricty.   Warren is a fan of BNI and NSC.  He has a very large position in BNI but I believe he has lightened up his position on NSC.  

    They are all trading towards their highs currently so I doubtful that they will stay there as the economy sours.
