I washed a program on television not too long ago that said the least expensive housing, best pay and best cost of living was Indianapolis, Indiana.  Oklahoma, where I live, has the lowest prices for housing, gas, food, etc., but wages are not extremely good.  For the most part though it is economically superior to many other places.

I like NNJ/NYC best but it's not economical at all- it's very expensive to live there and tax is high.  Maybe Florida or Arizona is more economical.

Texas and Florida - no income tax.  After those look at the electoral maps, if they typically vote Democrat it's going to be a high tax/overbearing government state.  The more conservative states are less, if by a little.

Wow, that's so funny that people LIKE living in NJ. I was always told that it's the armpit of the nation when I was growing up, and my husband, who is from there, will do ANYTHING to avoid returning, like it's a sign of failure.
