  1. The ukulele is a relatively easy instrument to learn on. The strings are easier on the fingers and the stretches are easier on the ukulele. Of course, it's as difficult to master as any instrument.

A couple of good beginner ukuleles are Makala

    And the Lanikai LU-21:

The size you start on isn't too important, but most people start on the soprano ukulele.

  2. It may only hae 4 strings but why do you think that makes it easier than anything else.It is all about technical ability. If you use the criteria of only 4 strings then that would include the violin. I think you'll agree that that is not an easy instrument to learn, rather one of rthe most difficult to master

  3. Snowehangel,

Ukuleles with 3 strings?  Only if one's broke.

Get yourself a Lanikai LU-21 under $50 or a little larger for a deeper fuller sound the LU-21C.   http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigatio... You can't go wrong with either of these.

Yes, they are easy to learn and play b/c of only having 4 strings, easier chords, and easier to bar chords.  However, you will have to practice.

Here's a pretty neat site to lean with http://www.doctoruke.com/songs.html

Check and see if there's a local ukulele club in your area.  Lot's of fun playing in a group.  http://www.ukuleleclubs.com/

And as a beginner, I'd suggest you start with a ukulele that has geared tuners.....like those on a guitar.  A lot less frustrating when tuning.

    Have fun.
