you can go to a dental school to get work done.  It's cheap and the work is done with the guidance of the best teachers.  BUT you'll sacrifice time by going there.  There usually is a wait list to get in, and you'll spend several weeks going through all the paperwork and getting worked up by the dental students.  One filling may take 4 hours.

If you really need high end dentistry, dental schools are the cheapest place to get implants and other high end procedures since they are usually done as a teaching experience.
