Whats the best approach to obtaining an event sponsor?

im putting together a gospel show in portland oregon,and i was wondering.does anyone know how i can successfully solicit a legitimate sponsor.its something that im putting together in a community that is in dire need of a positive,spiritual venue for the children of the community.any suggestions are welcome.
