  1. The times I've done "San Louie" has been for Stripers and it be in the shallows usin' topwater ie., Zara Spooks, Pencil Poppers, Rapala's broken back/jointed Minnows, etc., but that be outta' a boat (Summer months), with real good results. Have heard Basalt has their share of  them usin' BIG Minnows and or Anchovies from the banks (don't know first hand because this be comin' from the friend*, whom I might add is a Striper fanatic;))... Also if ya' get the chance you may want to give O' Neill Forebay a shot, for em' (right accross I-5 from reservoir). Hope it helps a bit ;)... < ' ( (( > <

    Zara Spook:

    Pencil Popper:

    Rapala's Jointed Minnow:

Note: Might give these ppl a call and see if they'll be able ta' give you more info., on San Luis (friend* does a lot of dealin' with them). It's also known as Lucky Larry's Bait Shop:

  2. maybe the spot near the dam

or if u thinking of catching fish over 20 inches i recomend goin to the dinosaur point side thats where the water is deep and where giant fish are at

lures... if ur using a boat eh im not sure

but for shore i dont recommend lures

cut baits are the way to go esp anchovies
