  1. The big gains that are often advertised by manufactures do not always transfer to the course.  Their "big" gains are 5-7 yards.  So, by switching balls you will not start hitting them 250 -270.  A swing change may net you some of that distance.  Consider lessons.

I prefer Titleist, so I would recommend the NXT Distance.

  2. It's as simple as this, don't spend your money on the new hot driver or the ultra forgiving irons.

Spend it on some quality lessons from a PGA Tour Licensed Pro

You'll be in the mid 80's before summer hits if you find the right instructor.

  3. Titleist NXT.

But the ball is really not going to make a huge difference at your level (No offence).

Either get some coaching, practice more or live with what youve got!

    Happy swinging

  4. There is a new Nike roll ball.  That should help.

  5. hey...you need a new driver ( Callaway FT5-draw..10 degrees, recommended), but first of all u should take some lessons from a good pro. I think the driver and technique is the most important thing, but i like to play with Callaway Hx-tour 56, nice ball that gives confidence and perfectionism.

  6. If you're hitting 225-235 and scoring low to mid 90s your in the top 10% of golfers today.   You're using a top of the line golfball in the Callaway HX.  The only real suggestion would be for you to experiment with some of the other top of the line balls like the Pro Vs or top line nike.  Just as an aside, I was talking to my course's golf manager the other day.  My course averages 60,000 rounds per year.  He estimates that no more than 10-15% of those rounds break 100.

If you REALLY are worried about distance off the tee, try to develop a slight draw as opposed to a fade.  For some reason a draw tends to go a little further.

  7. Basically you have a slice which is taking some distance off your drives.

The HX Hots are not gonna help and are actually gonna increase your slice, the noodles are ok for your actual game but as a quality of ball they are pants.

    Use any of these 4:

Srixon AD333 (Cheap - Great to start out with)

Callaway Warbird (Same as Srixon basically)

    Titleist NXT Extreme (My Favourite)

Taylor Made Burner (Newest Balls, have heard some encouraging reveiws)

To help explain what you need and what they offer here we go: -

Soft Balls - Your mates and the Advertisers in magazines will convince you that you need more feel from your golf ball. This is bollox, lets face the facts that we ain't pro's and therefore unless your comparing a Titleist against a Slazenger you WILL 100% NOT notice any difference.

The softer the ball the more likely to spin (Please note: - This also applies to side spin which causes the dreaded slice)

Harder balls will spin less meaning longer distances (When I say longer I talking about 5/10 yards, don't expect to start booming your driver 300 Yards after switching)

Basically what I'm saying is that the balls that I have suggested are better suited to your game than your current selection, however, they are not gonna make you start scoring mid-80's, only with time and practice (and maybe a lesson or 20!!) will you acheive this.

I hope this helps and keep the faith!

  8. Well you have presented two extremes in the HX and Noodle.  Hard and soft.  I think you should try something in between, like a NXT or NXT Tour.  But, I don't think the problem with your game is the ball.  Sounds like you need a couple of lessons from a Pro to put you straight and also seek his advice for a ball.  Swing speed has a lot to do with correct ball selection.  But the swing has to be consistanly making good contact.  The Pro will figure it out.

  9. Dont sweat  your ball choice so much.  Buy a decent ball and then forget it!  If you expect any ball to significantly change your game, you're fooling yourself.  I'm a pro and yesterday I played some cheap junk ball and honestly, I played just as well.  I hit the same clubs from the same yardages.  Spend your money on some lessons.  good luck!
