  1. There is no best card.

    You have a low score.

To rebuild credit, first and foremost, you need to take a break from doing anything.  You might not want to read this, but the best thing for you to do is give your credit score a break.  Don't open new accounts, close accounts, or do anything else for a year.

    Pay your bills on time.

In a year, you will have a better score.

Getting cards will hurt your score because the card options for people with that low of a score are bad.  FICO knows that and your score will go down.

SECURED CARDS HURT MORE THAN THEY HELP.  DON'T TAKE ADVICE FROM PEOPLE WITH BAD CREDIT.

  2. listen to dave ramsey about credit cards. Paying your utility/ cell phone bills on time will improve your credit score overtime.

Read Total Money Makeover, or don't and be in debt for the rest of your life.

  3. Look for a secured card.  That means you have the cash to put in a savings account that the bank holds and issues you a credit card against.  You can make small charges, pay the bill in full every month and rebuild your credit.  It also keeps you in check because you won't have a high limit (unless you have a lot of money to let them hold!).

    Good luck.

  4. I started to build mine with a secured card from my bank shortly after finding out that me paying my cell phone bill on time meant nothing to my credit report.  I put $300 into a savings account for the card and and stayed on top on my payments.  Nothing late, paying more than minimum and paying it off every few months, then starting over.  After a year or so, it went to unsecured status, I got the $300 back and asked them to change the card to one that didn't have an annual fee.  They did that under the condition that I never defaulted the account.  I have never defaulted that account and never gotten the annual fee charged.

I was under the impression (at 18) that the bills I paid to my cell phone company, the utilities and such would reflect positively on my credit score.  I was shocked when I got my first report that had none of those things on there.  They only report if you default and go into collections. (In my experience)

  5. You can rebuild your credit by paying your bills online, apply for a secured card or credit card for people with bad credits. http://bestcreditcardratings.com/secured

  6. There is none.

Credit cards are death and despair built out of plastic.

At 525 you will pay 21%.

The way to good credit is to pay your bills on time every time.

Once you've done that take out  a small secured loan at a credit union, and pay it back on time.
