  1. My suggestion would be 7 days on the carnival conquest, out of galiveston. You could drive to the port in 8-10 hours depending where in Ar. you live. The conquest is a nice ship going to Cozumel, Montego Bay, and Grand Cayman.

You can also ask at this Yahoo group and see if anyone is going on that trip

  2. Wouldn't your closest pier be New Orleans? Are they back up and running yet???

  3. First thing is to get the best price you need to book very early (9 to 12 months before your cruise date), and/or look at the specials and deals listed on the cruise line web sites.

Since you live in Arkansas you have a couple options for saving money by driving to the cruise port.  You could drive to Mobile, Alabama,; or Galveston, Texas; or New Orleans, La for cruises.  The cruise ports have parking that is about $15 a day.  Your options in Mobile will be very limited to one Carnival Cruise line ship doing the Western Caribbean.   Your options for New Orleans would be a little better with both Carnival and Norwegian both doing Western Caribbean cruises from there.  The Port of Galveston offers cruises by Carnival and a limited number from January until May on Royal Caribbean cruise line.

If you do not mind flying East to Miami, Ft Lauderdale, or (Orlando) Port Canaveral or West to Los Angeles or San Diego, your options for cruise lines, ships and itineraries go way up

In addition to Carnival, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean, your options would include other quality cruise lines like Princess, Celebrity, Holland America, and Disney.  The available itineraries would then include the Mexican Rivera (Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo St Lucas, etc.), the Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean, plus Bermuda and the Bahamas.  In addition to more cruise lines at these locations, you get newer and better quality ships, more options for cruise dates, and more competitive prices with specials and deals.

Among all of these cruise lines, and I have cruised on 4 of them, I recommend a Royal Caribbean cruise.  My advice is to look for the best price that you can get on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess or Holland America.

When you are looking at prices remember that the lowest advertised price is always for an inside cabin (no window/port hole) and then prices scale up for outside, balcony and suite cabins.  And, all cabins are sold double occupancy so the advertised price is per person for the first two passengers per cabin.

Now that does not give you a specific cruise but it does give your some things to think about in selecting what you want.

  4. drive to Port Carnavel and take a Disney cruise...that is the best.
