  1. It is just amazing to me that people cannot figure simple things like this out for themselves and put this kind of a thing on the net, please, just go in to your friendly Walmart, go to the druggist and ask him what is the best thing for head lice and he will tell you what to buy, several products out there, be advised that head lice is extremely contagious, it will go thru your whole family, you will spread it to everyone at school and you need to wash all sheets and linens with bleach, combs, brushes, etc. too.  Good luck.

  2. The chemical treatments from the drugstore work just fine (occasionally there will be some lice resistant to some of them). Make sure to wash all bedding with HOT water and put it in the drier. Pillows or other things that you don't want to wash can be put in a larger freezer. The mayonnaise thing does work, my sister (as a child) had very sensitive skin and the chemicals were very harsh on her skin.

Try to get all the kids treated at once. Screen them before they come in contact with other kids. It only takes one person not getting rid of all the lice to spread it back to the other kids.

  3. Use "Rid."  You can buy it at any drugstore, Walmart, or Walgreen's.

  4. The ONLY safe way to get rid of head lice permanently is to use a totally natural alternative to the chemical preparations then use prevention methods such as hairspray and tea tree mixed with water in a spray bottle every day to ensure they never return.

Before you listen to anyone advising you to repeat your pesticide treatment please consider the following:

No chemical head lice treatment is legally allowed to be labeled as 'safe' as every insecticide is a poison. Every pesticide preparation has the potential to do serious damage depending on the individual. If a lice treatment does not work once it is not going to work twice, in fact the lice that live will breed into a whole new batch that are resistant to that chemical.

Read these articles and try to find a natural remedy containing Neem oil as this renders the lice unable to breed therefore making it impossible for them to build up a resistance.

    Good luck, we've been there.

  5. i heard that putting mayonnaise all over ones head, and saturating the hair will kill the lice...its worth a try....

    best wishes

  6. this may sound silly but it really works without using chemicals

put mayonayse on your hair/scalp make sure to work in really well this will ensure the lice will not be able to breathe cover with plastic wrap and then with a towel for at least a 1 to 1.5 hours rinse with shampo then with white vinegar and finish with clean water

ps  dont forget to go through your bedding and wash it all
