in your opinion what Digital SLR is best for starting out, try to stay under the $1000.00 dollar range although you can go a little higher if the product is worth it.

  1. It really has to do with your goals with photography.

If you are going to just have fun with photography as a hobby then any of the entry level cameras are fine.

If you even think you may want to go to the next level in a few years, then you will want to start with either a Nikon or Canon DSLR.

At present the Nikon D40 gives you the most bang for the buck.

With the money left over you can buy an additional lens ... like the 55-200 mm zoom

    Pentax K10D

    Pentax K200D

    Pentax K20D

  3. Ok i am tired of all the generic nikon and canon answers. You will spend an arm and a leg buying nikon and canons. Try looking at fuji. I went with a fujifilm finepix s2 pro i got off of ebay for $350 and then got a tamaron 28-200mm lensfor $125. The fuji does use a nikon mount so most nikon lenses work with fuji cams. Yes the S2 pro is a few years old but it is a 6.3mp that puts out 12.1mp pics because of the super ccd sensor. I am impressed at the color and quality of the pics i get out of this camera. You can also search for an S3 Profor a little more. The S2 pro is still used by alot of wedding photographers today. As soon as i picked this camera up it just felt right.

  4. I have found the Canon Digital Rebel as a great place to start.  You really can't go wrong.  They have a new Canon Digital rebel XSi which is nice.  However, you can get all anyone need in an entry level Digital SLR in the XTi.  You can get everything you need in an XTi with a nice lens for about $750.

Another option is to rent a Canon XTi to try it out, or if you just need it for a certain event or vacation.  You can get a Canon XTi for only $75 for a week at http://www.RentMyCameras.com

    It is worth checking out.

  5. The Nikon D40 probably:
